Happy Nowruz!

March 21, 2017

We would like to wish a happy Nowruz to the Iranian Community!

On March 21, the City of Guelph hosted traditional Nowruz celebrations. Nowruz is the celebration of the Iranian new year, which begins on the vernal equinox. The tradition stretches back over 3,000 years. Although having Iranian and religious Zoroastrian origins, Nowruz has been celebrated by people from diverse ethno-linguistic communities for thousands of years. One of the traditions of the event is the Haft-Seen, an arrangement of seven symbolic items all starting with the letter Seen.
